Sony has presented a new professional drone (Airpeak drone) as part of the virtual CES 2021 (Consumer Electronics Show from January 11th to 14th). The Sony Airpeak drone is equipped with an alpha full-format camera and should be especially suitable for video producers from the professional sector. So far, Sony has only presented the drone’s design – the Japanese manufacturer has mostly kept a low profile on further technical details.
Sony announced the development of a professional drone back in November last year. As part of the Consumer Electronics Show, Sony will be a little more specific. It will provide the first details about the Airpeak drone . If you believe Sony, the Airpeak drone should be the smallest drone equipped with the in-house Sony Alpha cameras. The quadcopter has foldable carbon landing legs, which should ensure an optimal all-round view for video recordings.
The drone should also have artificial intelligence, obstacle detection, and all kinds of intelligent flight modes. According to Sony, the Airpeak drone can be equipped with correspondingly high-performance camera systems. The drone should ” open up new possibilities of expression ” and “inspire video producers with creative ideas.” What is certain is that the Sony Airpeak drone will be anything but cheap. The one shown in the introduction video Sony α7S III is in the mid-four-digit range.
