How To Choose The Best Drone Backpack

Now that you have invested in the drone of your dreams, you need a drone backpack that allows you to transport it safely and securely wherever you go. Whether it’s a hard bag with a customizable interior, or a backpack to carry more than one multirotor with its accessories, here you will find the equipment you need to protect your drone.

We’ll look at all the backpack’s best features, whether or not it’s durable, and how easy it is to use. At the end of the article, you’ll be able to make a decision as to whether or not this is the best drone backpack for you. Let’s dive right in!

What to Look for in the Best Drone Backpack?

✔️Size

The first thing to consider is the size of the drone’s backpack. You don’t want to choose a backpack that’s almost big enough for your drone but isn’t. You also don’t want to choose one that’s too small and can’t fit all of your accessories. Size is absolutely essential when choosing a drone backpack.

You should look for one that can comfortably fit your drone, extra batteries, and spare propellers, as well as any other accessories you have. If you’re going to be traveling, it’s best to choose a drone backpack that is much bigger than you think you’ll need. You can always use the extra space to store your clothes or other necessities. This is one of the best drone backpacks for travel. It’s so spacious that you can even use it as an everyday backpack.

✔️Price

Price is the second major factor to consider when you’re looking for a drone backpack. You certainly don’t want to spend an arm and a leg on one, but it’s also important to remember that you get what you pay for. You don’t want to choose the cheapest backpack for your drone because it won’t be suitable for your hobby. The price of a drone backpack really depends on the quality.

A good backpack can cost you anywhere between $50 and $250. The most expensive drone backpacks will include features like a padded interior, shock-resistant construction, comfortable shoulder straps, and more. The cheaper backpacks will be made from cheaper materials and won’t be as durable. You should always choose a drone backpack that’s durable, comfortable, and of a good quality, even if it costs a little more.

✔️Comfort

As well as looking at the price, you should look at the comfort of the backpack. You want to choose a drone backpack that isn’t too heavy and isn’t made from cheap or uncomfortable materials. There are two types of drone backpacks on the market: those made from nylon and those made from leather.

Nylon drone backpacks are much cheaper, but they don’t offer as much protection for your drone as leather ones. Leather drone backpacks are more expensive, but they’re much more comfortable and are more durable.

You should choose your drone backpack based on personal preference. If you’re just starting out, you can get away with choosing a cheaper nylon drone backpack. If you’re more advanced and will be traveling around a lot with your drone, it’s best to choose a more expensive model made from leather.

✔️Durability

Durability is probably the most important factor that you should consider when choosing a drone backpack. You want to choose a backpack that will last you for a long time. You want to choose a backpack that can handle being thrown around, dropped, etc. You want a backpack that is made from high-quality materials. You want a backpack that will last you for several years of intense use. It’s best to choose a backpack that’s made from high-quality leather or ripstop nylon. It’s also a good idea to choose a backpack that’s reinforced with a metal frame.

✔️Padded Interior

It’s also a good idea to choose a backpack that has a padded interior. This will protect your drone from any scratches or dents and will also stop it from being damaged. You also don’t want to choose a drone backpack that’s too big for your drone. Smaller drones can be damaged if they’re not in a backpack that’s the right size.

1. Manfrotto MB BP-D1

With the D1, Manfrotto has brought a very sophisticated and stylish drone backpack to the market. The biggest advantage of the backpack is that you can carry your drone even when it is assembled. It is unnecessary to disassemble the propellers and prop guards because you can quickly change the filming site.

Also, there is a lot of storage space. Besides the FPV equipment we carry (Blackpearl monitor and CL, SPW and Helical antennas), there is also room for an SLR camera, a notebook (up to 17″) and a tablet.

Due to the large amount of storage space and the high wearing comfort, the D1 from Manfrotto has risen to become our personal favorite backpack, which we can highly recommend to you. We originally used it for the Phantom 2, but now our DJI Phantom 4 Pro+ also feels comfortable in this drone backpack.

Pros
  • Extremely comfortable to carry

Inside each compartment you have additional pockets for extra accessories such as cables, cards, spare parts, small tools.

It is a very comfortable backpack, the back and straps are padded, perfect if you have to carry it for a long time. Nylon’s outer material with high density EVA makes it water resistant (but not waterproof), shock resistant, and anti-scratch.

Besides it’s gear holding capabilites, it also allowed us to use its external straps to carry a couple of additional drones.

The back and shoulder straps feature thickened, breathable material that allowed us to hold our weight during a long day’s hike comfortably and coolly. Although the nylon is waterproof and will protect our stuff from a light rain, the backpack is sold with a waterproof cover.

The backpack also showed us why it is one of the most sought after when preparing our gear: the Pitstop system. This allowed us to make sure everything was in order before taking off. It also has a magnetic pocket to keep all our tools and parts organized.

4. Lowepro Plecak Droneguard

Lowepro is defined by one word: space. Thanks to its multiple thickened dividers that carefully protect each piece of equipment, its pockets, pouches and zippers, we can turn a routine walk into a complete recording session.

What did we take: 1 drone, 2 extra batteries and 1 remote control, 1 GoPro with dive housing, 1 large powerbank or headlamp, 1 selfie stick, 1 3-axis stabilizer, 1 gorillapod, and even 1 camera on attached lens. Additionally we had room to carry 1 tripod for our camera, 1 GPS device, cables, accessories, and supplies.

As if that wasn’t enough, the entire interior is customizable. If you want to modify your backpack according to each outing, you will have the possibility to do so as we did.

The entire design is thickened to protect your gear, plus there’s extra foam and breathable mesh to ensure a comfortable ride. The icing on the cake is the front Velcro pocket that allows you to carry your cell phone at arm’s length during every session.

A compact drone backpack that makes perfect use of every inch. As soon as we opened it we knew what it was all about: a lightweight accessory in which we can carry all our equipment comfortably and safely.

In the lower part we will have our drone adjusted with a Velcro strap, pockets for 4 additional batteries, 1 cover for a tablet up to 9.7 inches, 2 side pockets, 1 mesh pocket for accessories and a compartment for our parasol.

However, what we liked most about the backpack was everything it does to ensure comfort while traveling. The back and waist have padding and mesh to protect your back and keep you comfortable, and the front strap helps distribute the weight perfectly.

Additionally, there is a secure pocket in the back that we use to carry a laptop (no larger than 30 centimeters). Furthermore, you can also use it to store any valuable possessions you want to keep secure.

  • Features a thickened pocket for your laptop.
  • Ultra-lightweight yet padded design for less impact.

Estarer gave us one of the most versatile experiences we could find in the market, being a backpack as light as it is adaptable to our needs. The customizable organizers, multiple ways to carry it and quality materials made our test ride one of the most comfortable.

Although it may seem small, this backpack allowed us to carry 1 drone, 1 remote control, 1 charger and 4 flight batteries. We also stored 4 spare propellers, cables, filters, accessories, extra memory, USB drives, our personal documents and 1 10.5 inch tablet. All within an ultralight and economical design.

Additionally, this backpack gives us different carrying options, either on the back with two padded shoulder straps and a breathable mesh back, on the shoulder with a padded shoulder strap, or one-handed with a reinforced handle.
