Cheerson CX-10 Review

The Cheerson CX-10 quadrocopter is a bestseller of its kind. It impresses with its very compact dimensions and agile flight behavior. Check out our review to find out why the mini quadrocopter is worth buying. For a long time, the Cheerson CX-10 was praised as the world’s smallest quadrocopter. However, the Cheerson CX-10 had to give up the smallest mini-drone’s honor to the Skeye Pico Drone.

At 22 x 22 x 19 millimeters, this is considerably smaller than the 40 x 40 x 22 millimeters of the Cheerson CX-10 and can even be transported in the remote control. Nevertheless, our comparison clearly shows that the Cheerson CX-10 quadrocopter is still so tiny that you could almost doubt its capabilities to fly.

Cheerson CX-10 – Excellent flight characteristics – perfect for beginners

Nevertheless, our analysis of the quadrocopter showed: The Cheerson CX-10 is extremely easy to control! Safe control of a quadrocopter requires a lot of practice and plenty of experience. Usually, the controls of quadrocopters hardly differ from each other. There are always two control sticks available, with the help of which the quadrocopter is controlled in longitudinal (roll axis), lateral (pitch axis), and vertical (yaw axis). In modern camera drones with a GPS system and many other sensors, the control is significantly more comfortable. However, mini drones do not have GPS due to their compact design, so control is simplified only by an integrated gyroscope. Therefore, a mini quadrocopter is ideally suited for learning and improving control.

Built-in rechargeable battery and deficient flight time

The Cheerson CX-10 weighs only 11.5 grams and is available in many different colors (e.g., light blue, turquoise, red, green, purple) and comes with a color-matched remote control, colorful charging cable, spare propeller, and integrated 100 mAh battery. Small LED lights provide information about the flight direction or position of the mini-drone. A closer look also reveals a small drawback of the tiny device: the battery is not replaceable.

It can only be recharged via a connector on the casing. The integrated battery allows a flight time of around five minutes. Because the battery is permanently integrated and the flight time is relatively short, the flying experience naturally doesn’t last very long. You’ll then have to wait around 45 minutes until the battery is resupplied with sufficient power via a USB charging cable. Nevertheless, the first prices for the Cheerson CX-10 start at approximately $22.99, which is why it may be worthwhile to buy a second model. By the way, the remote control needs two AAA batteries, which are unfortunately not included. The range of the Cheerson CX-10 is a meager 20 to 40 meters indoors and outdoors. That is absolutely sufficient for indoor use.

Flips, tricks, and 360-degree spins

At the touch of a button, the Cheerson CX-10 can perform amazing flips, tricks, and backflips. You don’t need much experience – just one press on the control stick is enough for the cute quadrocopter to perform impressive stunts. After pressing the button, a loud beep sounds from the remote control. You only have to select the direction in which the Cheerson CX-10 should perform the trick using the right control stick.

Pros
  • Very easy to fly
  • One key return to home (RTH)
  • 2 megapixel camera
Cons
  • Short battery life
  • No camera gimbal
  • No hardware camera mount

Conclusion

The agile flight performance, the great stunt functions, and the low price are only a few reasons to buy the Cheerson CX-10. One drawback is the permanently integrated and non-replaceable battery. The short battery life means that you have to be prepared with a flight time of only four to about five minutes.
